Everything appears to be perfect in the reel life, but it is quite the opposite in real life!
We dream of having a Perfect Life. Make numerous adjustments, sacrifices, compromises and work very hard towards it.
But do we really achieve the standards that we have set in regards to the thing being perfect?
No matter how hard one tries, things just never seem to be perfect!
Our never-ending struggle for things to be perfect soon turns out into a rat race. And hence we are duped! We were sold a pipe dream!
The quest for perfection is a dead end!
Because Perfection is a Myth. As mythical as the superstitions!
I find it very difficult to digest this fact being a Virgo and a hardcore “Perfectionist” myself who learnt it the hard way. But am still managing to find a healthy balance between figuring out things to be perfect and striving towards healthy satisfaction.
But the truth remains the same!
Nothing around is perfect.
Nature isn’t perfect. It is perfectly imperfect but it is still beautiful.
The Ocean, the Sky, the Stars, Sun, Moon, You! Nothing is Perfect. But isn’t it remarkable!
Things need not be perfect. They need to be Meaningful.
Relationships aren’t necessarily perfect! Our bodies aren’t always in the perfect shape as we would like them to be! The dream job or dream career isn’t as appealing as we thought it would be!
Meaning is what adds depth to it. And we call it perfect because of the lack of proper words sometimes. If it is perfect then probably we may have done something right alas, our never-ending quest for that specific thing is somehow over!
Perfectionism is a Perception.
It is a set of preconceived notions and beliefs which act as a benchmark for progress whilst measuring it through a tangent.
Perfection is a sum of standards set by some group of people or something vaguely imaginary!
Which turns out to be counter-productive when obsessed over.
Our definition of perfect changes over time.
What one considered to be perfect earlier would be imperfect right now and vice-versa!
So this means that what we really want when we say that we what something to be perfect is we want something better than what was or many a time what we thought it would be like.
Change is the only constant.
Things are never really going to be perfect as I said earlier. Not that I am saying that it won’t be good, it definitely would be in its own imperfectly unique way! Rather what I want to say is everyone’s definition of perfect would change eventually!
In the name of perfection what we are indirectly chasing is progress. So it is betterment that we’re looking for!
This simple realization has made my life less complicated. Rather than aiming for perfection, I question myself how would things be better than before? This takes away unnecessary stress which is very relaxing.
Things can never be perfect because they were never meant to be that way! It is way beyond the standard definition of perfection. Rather it is something that cannot be comprehended in words and being defined as just “perfect” does no justice!
What is perfect today will make no sense tomorrow!
Your perfect body would age gracefully! Your perfect car may be replaced by something even better! Your perfect relationship would reach another level of “perfectionism”. Yet the joy of it would be everlasting…
