Crystals- Much More than an Eye-Candy!

Crystals are pretty little nuggets straight from Mother Earth’s womb! They have been around us for millennia, since the dawn of humanity. They are not just a great addition to your home decor but also possess tremendous healing properties. Just like metals such as gold and silver, crystals were traded and were heavily prized. Their more elegant cousins are Gemstones. Ruby, Emerald, Blue Sapphire, Diamonds to name a few. Those are the most popular, the ones you’ve probably heard of.

A lot of people think that crystals are just beautiful showpieces; nothing more than sophisticated spiritual bullshit. But truth be told, it is quite shallow! People also did believe that the Earth was flat, not very long ago!

Many think that crystals are just eye candy but little do they realize that crystals are great healers. There is so much more than what meets the eye. Scientifically, everything in this universe is made up of energy. Our body is made up of organs, organs are made up of tissues and tissues are made up of atoms. And the Atom is 99.99% energy and only 00.1% matter (space).

How are Crystals Formed?

Crystals are found when under Earth’s crust. After thousands and thousands of years, they are formed underground by the process of crystallization. One needs to mine deep beneath, dig deeper and deeper to find them. Earthquakes, Volcanic Eruptions also help in bringing them to the surface. Crystals are also found in the deep oceans and seas also on riverbeds. A fossil can also be turned into a crystal.

To break it down, Crystals are made up of minerals. They have a certain geometrical shape, size, structure, composition, density, texture and colour.

Interestingly, Crystals are made up of the same components that our Earth is made up of. Silicon, Iron, Oxygen, Magnesium, Aluminium, Calcium, Sodium and Potassium.

Our human bodies are also made up of those very components chemically!

Crystals and Chakras

Just like the colours of the rainbow. Our body has 7 major energetic centres called Chakras. These chakras are responsible for different bodily functions and bodily workings. Third Eye (Indigo) – Associated with Inner- Knowing Intuition, Clairvoyance, Psychic Knowledge. Crystals associated are Amethyst, Lepidolite, Labradorite.

Crown Chakra ( Purple)- Associated with the knowledge of the Universe, Source Consciousness. Crystals associated are Himalayan Quartz, Samadhi Quartz, Selenite, Apophyllite.

Use of Crystals in the Technological World

Crystals are also used in electronics. Quartz (a variety of crystals) are heavily used for electronic circuits as resonators. They are also used in watches and other devices that are used to check the time. Galena and Pyrite are used in radio transmitters. Ruby was used in the development of lasers in the early 1960s. Silicon crystals are used in the production of solar cells & solar plates. They are also used in computers, tablets and phones.
